Muscat: The Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) issued a clarification statement on what was circulated about the emergence of discounts on subscribers' bills in electronic payment channels.
The company said that is currently working on recalculating the monthly citizen account bills in May and June and July, according to the new amendments to the tariff structure.
The recalculation process will result in canceling the invoices issued in May and June 2021 and the issuing of new bills for these months.
The discounts shown to the consumer at the present time in the electronic payment channels do not reflect the final value of the total receivables, but rather show the process of canceling invoices for the months of May and June.
The company will stop these channels until the completion of the recalculation process.
Each subscriber will receive a notification showing the value of the bills for the months of May, June, and July 2021 according to the new calculation mechanism.
The amounts paid by the subscriber during this period will be automatically deducted from the total enrollment.
The aforementioned amendments require more time, and as a result, the notice is expected to be issued during the second week of September 2021.
