Muscat: The Tax Authority will launch tomorrow Tuesday a series of virtual sessions on the Value Added Tax (VAT), which come as part of the awareness campaign themed “With You, For You”.

The campaign aims to introduce VAT and the mechanism of applying it. It also aims to rise the social awareness on the legal regulations for applying the tax in a manner that maintains the right of the consumer and the merchant.

The sessions will be broadcasted every Tuesday through the official channels of the Tax Authority in different social media platforms at 5 pm. The first session will be titled “Value Added Tax, its Application Mechanism, and Method of Submitting Tax Declaration”. The second and third sessions will discuss the mechanism of calculating VAT, invoices and tax records.

It should be noted that the Tax Authority started applying the VAT in 16 July as the number of those registered with the tax till the mid of 2021 stood at (17,500) merchants and service performers. --ONA
