Over 2 million vaccinated against Covid-19

As many as 2,008,140 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the Sultanate since the start of the National Immunization Campaign (57 per cent of the targeted population).


The number of those who took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine stood at 1,359,622 comprising 68 per cent, while the number of those who took two doses stood at 648,518 comprising 32 per cent.


The Ministry of Health continues vaccinating target segments against Covid-19 in all the governorates of the Sultanate.


On Monday, vaccination centres in all governorates of the Sultanate witnessed a good turnout from the target segments.


Meanwhile, as many as 236 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) were registered in the Sultanate during the past 24 hours, in addition to 12 new Covid-19-related death cases.


This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases to 298,942 in the Sultanate.


The total number of Covid-19-related death cases reached 3948, the ministry said.


The ministry added that 607 new cases have recovered, bringing the total number to 285,664 recoveries.


The ministry also pointed out that 28 were hospitalised over the past 24 hours, as the total number of current hospitalised Covid-19-infected patients stands at 344 of them 158 are in intensive care units (ICUs).


Earlier, the Supreme Committee tasked with tacking developments resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, has urged all those who have not received the first dose of the vaccine to get the jab at the earliest.


The committee said it is currently studying taking appropriate measures related to immunization to ensure public health for all, by setting the necessary measures for entering public places and availing the services provided by institutions and establishments of the public and private sectors, and travel regulations to and from the Sultanate, among others. - ONA
