Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology on Monday issued a statement about the accumulation of sand on some roads.

"We have followed with interest what has been discussed on social media about the sand dunes that have accumulated on some roads in the Sultanate. The concerned departments are working diligently with maintenance contractors to remove these sand dunes from the roads to ensure the safety of road users."

Due to the density of shifting sand at this time of the year, which results in its rapid accumulation, the ministry said it is working to develop sustainable solutions in cooperation with the authorities concerned to reduce the effects of sand accumulation on roads.

The ministry urged motorists to exercise caution while driving during this period of the year when the monsoon winds are active.
