

MUSCAT: The moon of Muharram 1443 AH has not been sighted on Sunday evening. Consequently, Monday, August 9 will be the 30th and last day of Dhul Hijjah 1442 AH and Tuesday August 10 will be the first day of Muharram 1443 AH, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs on Sunday.
On the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s Hijra Anniversary and the new Hijri year 1443 AH, the first day of Muharram (Tuesday August 10) will be an official holiday for employees of public and private sector companies, institutions, and establishments.
On the advent of the New Hijri Year and the anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) Hijra, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs extended its sincere greetings and best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praying for many returns of this auspicious occasion on His Majesty with good health, wellbeing and long life and wishing the Islamic world blessing and bounties and praying for flourishment and the lifting of pandemics from the whole world. — ONA
