SUR: A humpback whale has died after becoming entangled in a fishing net near the coast of Sur, on Sunday. The humpback whale has been listed as an endangered animal since 1972.
A recent report indicated that the humpback whale population faces various types of threat including entanglement in fishing nets near the coasts of Oman, Pakistan, India and the Arabian Gulf.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, banned the fishing and hunting of whales, turtles, mammals and marine birds as per article (11) of the Water Wealth Protection Law. —
