1.6 million passengers use airports in first half of 2021

Muscat: The number of passengers who traveled through the Sultanate’s airports (Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm) in the first half of 2021 was 1, 647 and 253, compared to 3,646,184 passengers during the same period in 2020, a drop by 45.82 percent.


The number of flight movements through the Sultanate’s airports was 15,874 during the first six months of this year, including 11,411 international flights and 4,463 domestic flights, compared to 29,181 flights, including 25,373 international flights (Muscat International, Salalah, and Sohar) and 3,808 domestic flights (Muscat International, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm) by the end of June 2020.


The nationalities of Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani dominated the passenger movement in June 2021 at Muscat International Airport, of which the Indians accounted for 18,520 passengers (452 arrivals and 17,068 departures), Bangladesh nationals (86,000 arrivals and 10, 812 departures) and Pakistan nationals (220 arrivals and 5, 686 departures).
