Muscat: After an interval of more than a year due to a pandemic situation, Salam Air will resume flights between Suhar and Salalah airports from August 7.

The airline will operate four flights per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday) between Suhar to the summer tourism destination of Salalah.

Mwasalat has announced an additional service between Muscat-Salalah, bringing the total services to three per day, from August 8.

Salalah witnessing temperatures in the twenties, tourists from the northern parts of Oman have been flocking to the city to enjoy the Khareef season.

As the city has been witnessing an influx of tourists, hotels, and hotel apartments are seeing a big surge in the demand this year, compared to the 2020 Khareef that was completely washed out in full lockdowns.

Suhar International Airport received 274,767 passengers from 2,240 flights at the end of November 2019. Foreign airlines such as Air Arabia and Qatar Airways also operated scheduled services from the airport during that period.

Suhar Airport has been mooted as an alternative, quicker route for travellers wishing to access the north of Oman. The airport will also serve as a new gateway for cargo and courier traffic in the region as it is being built within the proximity of the major commercial, industrial and economic centres of Suhar including the Port of Sohar Special Economic Zone.
