Covid-19 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs) of hospitals have gone below 200 along with a fall in the number of fresh coronavirus infections.
The Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 293 new cases and 12 deaths. Currently, there are only 12,111 sick people, which is 4.07 per cent of the total infected people.
Thirty patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, taking the total number of inpatients to 434 including 194 in intensive care units.
The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate has now reached 297,724, including 3,889 deaths. The total number of recoveries is 281,724 while the recovery rate is 94.6 per cent.
Currently, 38 doses have been administered per 100 people in the country. The Sultanate has vaccinated 31 per cent of the target population with a single dose while 6.8 per cent have been fully vaccinated in the country.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat urged those in target groups to get prior appointments for vaccination to avoid crowding at the centres.
The Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate in coordination with the Directorate General of Education will start the national vaccination campaign soon for children aged 12 and above.
The centre in Salalah will be the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment. A text message will be delivered about the time to the guardian of the child as per the phone number registered in the education. It should be shown at the vaccination centre. The student's birth certificate or passport should be presented to verify the data and while residents must carry the resident card.
Only one member of the family shall accompany the student to the venue of immunisation.
