

MUSCAT: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) of Muscat Governorate busted expats selling electronic cigarettes.
The CPA said that the seizure comes within the framework of its continuous efforts to monitor and control the markets, stave off violations committed by some suppliers and curb dealing in illicit commodities that harm individuals’ health.
As per the details, the CPA received a tip-off about expats selling electronic cigarettes in a tobacco products shop in violation to the decision 698/2015 which bans dealing in electronic cigarettes and hookah. Based on the information received, the CPA conducted an investigation and obtained a warrant to search the store after coordinating with the Public Prosecution. The CPA inspectors ascertained that the store was really selling electronic cigarettes and promoting them online. The CPA inspectors seized 4,303 electronic cigarettes along with their accessories hidden in a secret store. In light of that, the CPA inspectors issued a seizure report and took legal procedures.
