MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued a circular setting out policy guidelines governing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by government ministries and state units.

The circular encourages the adoption of AI in developing innovative solutions to drive economic growth and national development based in line with broader parameters of the 4th Industrial Revolution to help achieve Oman’s Vision 2040 goals.

The policy stresses the importance of six key factors in driving AI adoption: Inclusiveness, Empathy, Accountability, Equity, Transparency and Security. AI adoption based on these principles will boost trust in modern technologies and solidify governance systems, the Ministry said. They will support best practice and enhance the ideal use of AI systems while limiting any risks. — ONA
