Book your appointment, people urged as vaccination for 18+ resumes

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday resumed the National Immunization Campaign against Covid-19 for the target categories (18 years and above). The vaccination centers in all governorates witnessed a good turnout from the target groups.


The ministry has emphasized the importance of booking an appointment through the website https://covid19.moh.gov.om or through Tarassud Plus application before heading to government vaccination centres to ensure a safe and smooth vaccination process.


Fatima al Hinaiyah, a nursing supervisor at the vaccination centre at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, said that the centre witnessed an increased turnout of citizens willing to get the Covid-19 vaccine since early morning on Sunday. She noted that the vaccination centre comprises 60 vaccination chambers and it starts receiving citizens from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm.


Dr Thamra al Ghafriyah, Director-General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, affirmed that the vaccination process at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is going on seamlessly amid tight precautionary measures and that there is a large turnout of the targeted groups.


In Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Directorate-General of Health Services on Sunday resumed vaccination with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for eligible citizens aged 18 years and older. The General-Directorate of Health Services has allocated health centres for the vaccination in coordination with government and private institutions.



Dr Salem bin Hamad al Busaidy, Director of the Primary Health Care Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said that the directorate has resumed the second phase of vaccination against Covid-19 for people aged 18 years and older as the nationwide vaccination campaign continues.


Dr Salim bin Musa al Abri, Director-General of Health Services in Al Dhahira Governorate, said that the vaccination process will continue at the same centres as before at the Al Muhalab Ibn Abi Safra Hall in the Wilayat of Ibri, Hamra Al Duroa Health Centre, Maskan Health Centre, Wadi Al Ein Health Centre, Kahnat Health Centre and Bilad Al Shahoum Health Centre.


As for the Wilayat of Dhank, vaccination will be conducted at the sports hall in addition to Al Qamira Health Centre, the Wali’s offices in the Wilayat of Yanqul and Al Waqba Health Centre.


Al Abri noted that the Director-General of Health Services in Al Dhahira aims to provide Covid-19 vaccines for citizens to contain the virus and curb the pandemic. He added that the directorate targets to vaccinate 2,500 citizens a day in order to cover 50 per cent of the Omani population by July-end and 100 per cent in August.


A number of supervisors at vaccination centres in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, said that the vaccination process went smoothly on the first day after the Eid holidays amid a good turnout of the targeted group. North Al Sharqiyah Governorate has 9 vaccination centres three of which are in Wilayat of Al Mudhaib, 2 centres in the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen and one each in the wilayats of Ibra, Bidiyah, Al Qabil, and Wadi Bani Khalid. — ONA
