London: The world’s rarest stamp called Guiana 1c Magenta (1856) is returning to Britain permanently for the first time in 143 years.

The stamp which has been held in collections in different parts of the world before now going to its home is described as the “Mona Lisa of the stamp world”, and it was sold for 8.3 million US Dollars. It will now be on display in central London at the Stanley Gibbons flagship store.

The stamp will be well secured, as it will be met by an armoured truck upon arriving to Heathrow. From there, it will be driven to the showroom where it will be stored in a vault before finally being displayed, the Guardian news reported. --ONA
