Sultanate, Sri Lanka review trade ties

MUSCAT: Qais bin Mohammed al Yusef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, met with Tharaka Balasuriya, State Minister of Regional Cooperation of Sri Lanka, through video conferencing, on Wednesday.


The meeting reviewed the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries and discussed trade and economic cooperation.


A proposal to roll out a direct line between the Sultanate and Sri Lanka to facilitate direct export of Omani products and import of Sri Lankan products through the Omani and Sri Lankan ports.


The meeting also discussed the establishment of Sri Lankan industries in the Sultanate benefiting from the location and the trade agreements of the Sultanate. The two sides were informed about the establishment of a Sri Lankan company in the field of rubber products in the Sultanate.
