OFA announce new events and programs in a press meet

MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association (OFA) unveiled the upcoming events and activities in a press conference on Tuesday at the premises of OFA in presence of Fahad al Raisi, Executive Director of OFA, Shaikh Shabib al Hosni and Khalifa al Hasani from Professional league union and Maqbool al Balushi, admin manager of the national team.


Al Raisi announced that the Sultanate senior football team players will be totally free for the team training sessions from July until March 2022. “ During this period, the national team will play in the deciding round of 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier, 2021 Fifa Arab World Cup and GCC Gulf Cup,” he added.


The Executive Director of OFA pointed out that a committee was formed for hosting Oman's matches during the final round of 2022 Fifa World Cup Asian Qualifications.


The panel comprise members from Ministry of Culture, Sport, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Information, ROP, Oman Airports and Mwasalat Company. The main task of the committee is to secure all the necessary technical and logistics arrangements. The Asian Football Confederations (AFC) ensured to provide the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) system. There is full cooperation from all the government entities to provide full support to success the matches of the qualifier which will be hosted in Muscat,” he added.



On the other hand, the Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic, announced the probable’s for the overseas camp in Serbia from July 25 until August 23. The camp will comprise four friendly matches. The list of probables included the following players:


Mohsin al Ghassani, Jameel al Yahmadi, Zaher al Aghbari, Amjad al Harthi, Abdulaziz al Ghilani, Mohammed al Musalami, Fayez al Rushaidi, Omar al Fazari, Abdulaziz al Maqbali, Salah al Yahyei, Abdullah Fawaz, Ali al Busaidi, Juma al Habsi, Ibrahim al Mukhaini, Al Mundher al Alawi, Mohammed al Ghafri, Harib al Saadi, Arshadal Alawi, Fahmi Dorbeen, Khalid al Buraiki, Essam al Subhi, Khalid al Hajri, Mohsin Jawher, Yazeed al Maashani, Ahmed al Kaabi, Saud al Habsi and Ahmed al Khamisi.


Oman Olympic team will have an overseas camp in Turkey and that will be scheduled from August 11 to 16 while Oman beach soccer team will attend Ukraine International friendly event and Fifa World Beach Soccer championship in August.


Fahad al Raisi said the 2021/2022 season will begin from October while the HM Cup qualification matches will start October 29. “ The OFA Cup will kick off on November 19. All Omatel league clubs confirmed their participation in the league while 21 clubs will join in the first division league. We will have 32 courses this year and there will be dedicated programs for women sports. More than five camps in Salalah and Nizwa to shape local refrees for the new season,” he ended.
