The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a statement following reports that the concerned authorities in the Sultanate rejected a request for emergency landing of a Sri Lankan flight due to a shortage of fuel.
CAA said as per the records it did not receive any request for an emergency landing.
The records showed that the first contact with the Muscat Air Traffic Control Center by the pilot of the Sri Lankan plane (flight 6504 on July 6, 2021) was before the aircraft entered the airspace of the Sultanate. The request for a direct route due to a shortage of fuel on the plane and the request was fulfilled.
The matter was coordinated with Sri Lankan Airlines on this subject, which confirmed that the news published was untrue.
CAA assured that it will spare no effort when it comes to responding to any emergency in line with its commitment to international agreements and conventions.
