

Muscat: The GCC Health Undersecretaries on Monday discussed the latest developments of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic in the Gulf.
During the 18th virtual meeting, a standard definition for infected persons and deaths related to Covid-19 in the GCC countries was agreed upon, as well as unifying the test procedures of gene sequencing for the different variants of the virus.
Furthermore, the meeting set a standardized classification of high-risk countries and adopted the standards of the WHO.
The meeting reviewed a number of related issues including the latest developments of immunization in the GCC countries, Gulf Unified Treatment Manual and the Covid-19 Gulf Unified Manual.
The Undersecretaries urged all citizens and residents in the GCC countries to adhere to preventive measures such as wearing masks and avoiding gatherings during Eid Al Adha.
The virtual meeting was attended by Dr Mohammed Saif al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs. --ONA
