Cloud cover brings down temperature in Oman

Muscat: Clouds continue to flow from the Arabian Sea, with chances of scattered thunderstorms and rains in parts of the governorates of South al Sharqiah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar, according to Oman Met. Subsequently, the latest satellite photos showed cloud cover over most of the governorates of the Sultanate. Temperatures are expected to drop to be under and around the 40s in Muscat, Suhar, Sur, Rustaq, and Nizwa.


In Salalah, temperatures are will be around 30 degrees celsius.


Local cloud formations on the Al Hajar Mountains and parts of Dhofar Governorate will lead to scattered thunderstorms at times during the evening.


The latest weather charts and the analysis of the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center show trough extended from the Arabian Sea toward the sultanate starting today, the Oman Meteorology said.


"The chances of continues of cloud advection with chances of isolated rain with occasional thundershowers over Governorates of Dhofar, Al-Wusta, and South Al-Sharqiyah. Meanwhile chances of cloud development along Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas with thundershowers. The sea state will be rough along the Arabian Sea with a maximum wave height between (3to 4m), and for Sea of Oman will be moderate with a maximum wave height of 1.5 to 2.5 meters," Oman Met said.


The Civil Aviation Authority advises the public to take precautions and to follow its latest weather bulletins and reports.
