

The preliminary list of candidates who will compete for Oman Football Association (OFA) board member positions in 2021-2024 term was completed on Sunday. Three candidates will vie for chairman post including existing chief of OFA, Shaikh Salim al Wahaibi, Dr Jassim al Shukaili, vice-chairman of OFA for the current term, and Dr AbdulHakeem al Ghilani from Al Wahda club.
The vice-chairman position will be contested by the current first vice-chairman Mohsin al Masrori while the other nominee is Dr Khalid bin Hamed al Ghilani from Sur club.
The final approved list of the candidates for all the positions will be announced on July 14 after revision by the election panel headed by Dr Hamed al Hadhrami. The committee members will filter all the submitted applications and inspect whether they are in adherence to the set criteria and regulations. The committee began receiving the nomination forms from candidates since June 20.
As many as 23 candidates delivered their applications to compete for board membership. Former football players, previous international referees and board members in national clubs are competing for six seats at board members position.
The list featured the following: Ibrahim al Hosni, Hamood al Atabi, Abdulaziz al Kharousi, Majid al Salhi, Ibrahim al Balushi, Ahmed al Sulemani, Ali al Ajmi, Daood al Juma, Ibrahim al Alawi, Nasser al Hadabi, Mohammed al Shukairi, Qutaiba al Ghilani, Ahmed al Hadad, Khalid al Mudhafar, Khalid al Mudelwi, Khamis al Qateti, Abdullah al Jabri, Dr Saud al Marhoobi, Abdullah al Kamzari, Ahmed al Khonji and Abdulaziz al Oraimi.
For the women mandatory membership positions, two nominees are vying including Omani business women Lujaina Mohsin and Fatma al Fazari.
The initial agreed date for the general assembly meeting which will feature the election for the new term of the board is scheduled on August 28. The general assembly of OFA will select nine members for the term including: chairman, vice-chairman, one women mandatory position for board member and six other board members.
