Anti-drug competition winners announced

MUSCAT: In line with the International Day against Drug Abuse, which falls on June 26, the National Committee for Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances (NCNPS) announced the results of the community competition to curb the spread of narcotics and psychotropic substances.


Dr Huda al Siyabi, Director of Community Based Initiatives in the Ministry of Health and Head of the assessment team of the competition, pointed out that the competition aims to encourage the community individuals in general and the youth segment in particular to create community projects designed to reduce this serious problem in all governorates.


The 2019– 2020 competition has included 13 Wilayates, namely Al Mudaibi, Bidiyah, Dema Wa Thaieen, Wadi Bani Khalid, Shinas, Mirbat, Bidbid, Barkah, Rustaq, Sur and Al-Kamel Wa Al-Wafi.


The results were as follows:


The first place: Al-Kamel Wa al-Wafi for the project 'Your Life is Valuable'.


The second place: Khasab for the project 'Together for a Community Free of Drugs to maintain our Human Wealth'.


The third place: Dema Wa Thaieen for the project 'Do Not Try'


The fourth place: Shinas for the project 'Use Your Brain for Thinking not for Drugging'.
