

MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health, signed a joint country cooperation strategy with the World Health Organization, on Monday.
The agreement is aimed to realize the health effect that supports the Sultanate’s national health policies, strategies and plans as well as contribute to the promotion and improvement of the health of the Omani society.
The Sultanate is the first country to complete the development of the strategy with the new consultative methodology at the level of the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The strategy clarifies the aspects of technical cooperation in order to respond to the priorities and needs of the Sultanate to achieve its national health policies and the sustainable development goals related to health.
The agreement was signed by Sultanate by Dr Ahmed bin Muhammad al Saeedi, Minister of Health, and, Dr Jean Jabbour as WHO Representative in the Sultanate.
Delivering a speech on this occasion, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammad al Saeedi, Minister of Health, stressed the close cooperation between the Sultanate and the WHO and the importance of the joint country cooperation strategy with the organization.
For his part, Dr John Jabbour, WHO Representative, said that this strategy is the outcome of careful reviews of the World Health Organization and the consultative and intensive inputs of relevant experts, with key officials in the Ministry of Health over the past two years. — ONA
