Sustaining quality marks a matter of high significance to whatever one does or cares about. It really counts more when delivering a product, service or managing a property or shouldering a responsibility, to name a few examples. However, are we ensuring that much of attention to quality when it comes to what we do or what others do for us?! Let us all just think of how serious and adequate we are at work, for instance! Are we managing our deliverables the right way as they are supposed to be delivered? Are we serving customers or clients in responsibly, efficiently and satisfactory enough if we were on their shoes?!

Here comes the importance of believing and having self-responsibility and honesty in what one does. Case in a point, what really matters at a workplace is not just making a living out of what we do, but doing it responsibly, professionally and adequately. Complying with the particularly set standards of quality is always a-must-to-do accountability. Otherwise, tasks and responsibilities will be just delivered for the sake of ticking the completion box with no consideration to quality and sufficiency. Hence, this reflects one’s selfish dishonesty to the assigned responsibility and compromise of quality over money and self-interests.

For that reason, evaluating employees' performance becomes serious necessity regardless of their job responsibilities or the organisations they work for. Regular evaluation is always significant to ensure their accountability and quality of their work. This would definitely help employers distinguish hard workers to reward them in return of their dedication and excellence. Acknowledging employees' outstanding contributions and performance reflects their value to the team, department and the entire organisation. Those should be placed in leading positions to be exemplary role models for their colleagues and workmates.

On the other hand, the low-performing or irresponsible employees could easily be identified when conducting performance evaluation procedures. As sometimes they are undercover of other colleagues, someday they would definitely be spotted by the radar of their boss or human resources spies! Possibly, a directive advice and guidance from the line manager might work as an initial action to raise the flag to them. Alternatively, forcing them to regret their irresponsibility and unaccountability to their duties, or probably warning them could work as a simple remedial punishment. Overloading them with extra tasks might also work to teach them responsibility principle the hard way!

On the contrary having a valuable reward as an outcome of the overall performance evaluation process is key. Certainly, it would serve ensuring employees’ dedication towards their responsibilities. Likewise, sustaining quality would always matter to them if that is also counted in their performance appraisal. Accordingly, having a proper evaluation procedure or clear system for employees’ performance is undoubtedly of a high importance. There is not doubt that such administrative process supports not only employers to make a successful business, but builds competent and devoted employees too.

Thus, to ensure objectivity in the evaluation process in any organisation, employees should be involved in setting their goals and when conducting their regular or year-end performance evaluation. Mutual understanding and trust between bosses and employees is extremely important to ensure a healthy and inspiring work environment. Being in a comfortable work place will instill trust and devotion in employees towards their employers as well as urge them to bring about their best expertise at work. Evaluation must be very constructive as it helps all employees discover their points of strength and weakness regardless of their performance levels.

This practice will go far in creating a workforce that is engaged, productive and trustworthy. Researches indicated that employees have three prime needs that are interesting work, recognition for doing a good job and being aware of things that are happening around them. Employees are always the core factor of running a good business where quality is a concern and customers are valued.
