ASYAD to focus on developing integrated public transport

ASYAD Group has said that it aims to integrate the operations of Oman National Transport Company and National Ferries, which will strengthen the public transportation culture by providing safe, convenient, and easily accessible transportation services.


The integration of the process is aimed at raising spending efficiency, improving service quality, and providing distinguished transportation services through an integrated digital platform by linking systems land and sea transport services. It will also merge the customer service outlets of both service providers in different regions of the Sultanate.


The Board of Directors of ASYAD Group on Tuesday decided to restructure its business units in line with its efforts to focus on key logistics activities, such as port services, free zones, shipping, dry-docks, e-commerce services, and last-mile delivery. The decision comes as part of ASYAD’s efforts to boost its local and international commercial presence, in light of its plans to grow and enhance its performance.


The restructuring will result in the dissolution of the Oman Roads and Transport Management Company (ORTMC).


The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology becoming the supervisory body for activities related to land transport including contracts that were previously assigned to ORTMC.
