Passenger movement declines 71.9% at airports in Oman

Muscat: The number of passengers who traveled through the Sultanate's airports (Muscat, Salalah Suhar, and Duqm) during the first three months of the year 2021 declined 71.9% to 1, 300, 762 passengers compared to 3, 571, 647 passengers.


A report from the National Central for Statistics and Information (NCSI) that the number of flight movements through these airports was 8,191 during the first three months of this year, including 5,865 international flights (Muscat International, Salalah and Sohar), and 2,236 domestic flights (Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm), compared to 27,535 flights, including 23,815 international flights by the end of March 2020.


According to data, the nationalities of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan dominated the passenger movement at the airport.


Of these nationalities, 334,131 passengers were Indians (288,565 arrivals and 45,1,566 departures, of Bangladeshis 108,605 passengers (89,102 and 19,503 depatures), and 99,670 passengers from Pakistani nationality (89,338 arrivals and 10,332 departures).
