Sultanate reports 3,500 deaths in four months

MUSCAT: The number of deaths reported from the beginning of the year till the end of April stood at 3,541 deaths including 3,192 (1,877 males and 1,009 females). Deaths among residents during the same period was 349 (294 males and 55 females).


In April alone, 1,086 deaths were reported including 981 Omanis (576 males and 405 females) and 105 residents (86 males and 19 females). March saw 877 deaths including 793 Omanis (471 males and 322 females) and 84 residents (72 males and 12 females). In February there were 741 deaths including 671 Omanis (389 males and 282 females) and 70 residents (60 males and 10 females). In January the number of deaths was 863 including 686 Omanis (425 males and 261 females) and 177 residents of whom 148 were males and 29 were females.


Last year the Sultanate reported 10,496 including 8,576 (5,015 males and 3,561 females) and 1,920 residents of whom 1,623 were males and 297 were females.


A total of 23,912 live births were reported in the Sultanate in the first four months of the year including 22,318 Omanis (11,486 males and 10,832 females). Live births among the expat population was 1,594 (810 males and 562 females), according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
