PASI starts receiving social benefit applications

Muscat: The Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) announced that it began receiving applications for social benefit from June 1 and the process will continue till December 31. The benefits will be paid at the end of each month and the due date will be on June 1, 2021.


The Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) began implementing employment initiatives associated with the job security system including paying a monthly benefit RO 202.500 for six months to the Omani insured small business owners and those in their category as well as Omanis working abroad and Omanis working in the GCC countries who were terminated for reasons beyond their control.


Khalifa bin Salem al Ghufaili, head of the follow-up and supervisory committee at PASI, said that the experience proved that job security system, since its inception in November 2020, has achieved its objectives in terms of providing benefits which indicates the financial strength of the system. Hence, it has become imperative to expand the package of benefits offered by the system based on the actual needs in the current conditions. Consequently, the Royal directives to pay two benefits for two categories that need the support of all society members.


Besides, the job security system has taken into consideration the Omanis working and those working in embassies, consulates and the international organizations operating in the Sultanate who were affected by the current economic conditions, Al Ghufaili said.


Regarding eligibility conditions for the small business owners and workers abroad, Al Ghufaili said that these conditions were made flexible in order to broaden the beneficiaries’ base. These are mainly regulatory conditions that contribute to securing a portion of the needs of these two categories. As per the conditions: the beneficiary should be registered at one of social insurance systems until May 25, 2021. They should not be employed by the public or the private sector or affiliates to any military or security unit. They should not be receiving a pension from one of the pension funds of the Sultanate.
