

The Ministry of Health has unveiled details of the national vaccination campaign and the new target groups.
Badr bin Saif al Rawahi, director of the Infectious Diseases Control Department at the Ministry of Health, spoke about the developments of the National Campaign for Immunization against COVID-19 and the new groups that will receive vaccines during the next phase.
- The Ministry has developed an integrated implementation plan for immunization during the month of June, during which a number of new target groups will be vaccinated.
- During this month, MOH will cover all employees of the state's administrative apparatus and security and military authorities.
- The Ministry of Health confirms that based on the vaccine purchase agreements and current supplies, 1. 25 million doses will reach in June, an average of 200,000 doses every week.
- The Ministry of Health seeks to cover the entire target population over the age of 12 years and over, which is equivalent to 70 percent of the population, and it will be implemented in phases according to vaccine supplies in accordance with the national strategy for immunization against disease
- The Sultanate is expected to receive some 200,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per week starting from June
- Health workers in the private sector who did not receive the vaccine in advance, in addition to basic service providers and employees of the military and civil authorities, where the vaccination process will begin next week.
- The categories will be expanded to include adults aged 45 years and over from the third week of the current month of June, and all those who received the first dose will be vaccinated with the second dose, who have completed 10 weeks.
- Among the target groups are also students of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and other target groups will be added in the month of June.
- Implementation of the immunization plan will be done in several ways to reach the beneficiaries, including the opening of immunization centers in all governorates and the formation of mobile teams if necessary.
- The vaccination campaign for students and the supervising body for the general diploma exams, which began on the 26th of last month, covered nearly 32,000 of the targeted students and the supervisory body, equivalent to 43% to date, within five days.
- 205,000 doses of vaccines have arrived on Saturday.
- The arrival of vaccines will continue in the coming days 1, 100, 000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and about 148.000 doses of the AstraZeneca.
- All vaccines in the Sultanate have proven safe and effective and were carefully selected by a specialized team from the ministry.
- Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, had confirmed that vaccine shipments would continue to arrive in the Sultanate, expressing hope that the vaccination rates will cross 35 percent up from 30 percent of citizens and residents by the end of August.
