

PARIS: Dr Hamad bin Saif al Hamami, the Sultanate's Permanent Representative to Unesco, presided over the first meeting of the Group of Friends for Gender Equality for 2021, through video conference.
In his welcome speech, Al Hamami underscored the importance of coordination and the integration of efforts between the Unesco and the other international organisations concerned with gender equality in addition to monitoring and evaluating the effect of the programmes and their results on the ground.
Al Hamami highlighted the importance of revising the curricula to keep pace with the developments of gender equality and embracing clear-cut policies for women empowerment in various fields.
Al Hamami also stressed the importance of providing the Unesco regional offices with the required expertise so as to be able to implement effective programmes that support gender equality.
