When stress is the order of the day due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a community social wing came out to entertain people with an event, which worked as a mood elevator for all those who took part in it.

There was a free flow of humour, satire and soft poetry during the programme titled ‘Hasya Kavi Sammellan’ (humorous poetry session). The programme was organised on a virtual platform by the Rajasthani wing of the Indian Social Club (ISC) Salalah on Friday.

The programme enthused people to clap, cheer and indulge in the ‘play of words’ and brush aside the negativities caused by the pandemic.

Amraram Gujjar, the chief guest of the occasion, hailed the programme as a stress buster when people tackled so many social and personal issues related to their health, emotions and livelihood.

“I felt honoured to be part of it, as I saw many known faces after a long time. Most importantly, I saw them smiling and appreciating due to the setting of the programme, which was light, informal yet full of messages for the contemporary world,” he said.

Sandeep Ojha, an active community member, introduced the poets to a comparatively large audience for a virtual programme.

Among the poets were Anvesha Srivastava, Neer Gorakhpuri, Vipin Chauhan, Pankaj Sharma, Dr Suresh Avasthi and Pankaj Srivastava.

Ajay Anjam compered the programme and kept the audience intact until the show’s end that evoked a very good response from the poetry lovers.

Pankaj Sharma stood out with his gratitude and feelings for Oman for extending helping hands to India in the time of pandemic crisis.

“The gesture shown by Oman touched me, and I felt that humanity is still alive amid so much negativity, which is the biggest challenge of the contemporary world,” he said.

The audience was in splits of laughter and appreciation in these gloomy days of the pandemic.

Rakesh Jha, Chairman of the ISC Salalah, called it a moment of great relief and distraction from so many issues he is facing.

He committed to coming out with more such events to keep the community positively engaged and keep them healthy, mentally and physically.
