Three to five-star hotel revenues drop by 60%

The total number of guests in hotels 3 to 5 Star hotels in the Sultanate declined by 23.5 percent to 298,885 at the end of March this year from 390,642 guests a year ago.


Statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information said the 3 to 5-star hotels reported a decline of 60.4 percent to reach 1, 21,274,000 at the end of March 2021, compared to 53, 747, 000 during the same period in 2020.


Omani constituted the largest percentage of hotels guests, an increase of 85.1 percent to reach 208,404 from 112,609 guests in March of last year, followed by the Asian guests 44,506 that increase to 39,540 guests from 2020, an increase of 12.6 percent.


As of March 2021, the number of European guests reached 13,257, Arabs other than those from the Gulf (12,423) and Americas (5, 199), and other nationalities (710).
