Nepalis working in the Sultanate joined hands with their countrymen in the Middle East to send 560 oxygen cylinders for the Covid-19 patients in Nepal onboard a Nepal Airlines plane from Muscat on Saturday.

“We took part in the initiative and were able to generate 560 cylinders of oxygen for the needy and were sent on the plane that took off at 2 pm. The flight landed in Kathmandu at around 7 pm,” Bikal Jha, president of the Non-Resident Nepali Social Club Oman, told the Observer.

The Government of Nepal arranged the transportation on the initiative of Embassy of Nepal, Muscat.

The flight was sent to Muscat from Kathmandu to collect the cylinders. The plane arrived at Muscat International Airport at 10 am.

The Middle East Regional Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) had launched a campaign across the region to fill the shortage of oxygen in Nepal.

The cause was further taken over by all the organisations in the Middle East.

The union purchased the cylinders from Al Hosni Company, an Omani firm, at $120/cylinder, Jha added.

A team comprising Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate, DB Chhetri, spokesperson of NRNA, Vikal Jha, president of the club, arrived at Muscat International Airport to deliver the cylinders.
