New tropical system to form in Arabia Sea by weekend

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that it is following indications of a possible low pressure in the coming days. This is one of the tropical low-pressure situations this annual season and the CAA is following the developments as per the approved procedures.


"In the Arabian Sea, a large monsoonal low is forecast to develop and move slowly North to Northwest, environmental conditions and oceanic conditions are expected to be conducive for tropical low pressure, and a tropical system is expected to form by the end of the week," Oman Meteorology said.


Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorology Department on Tuesday said, "Broken low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection over Comorin area, South Arabian sea and adjoining equatorial India ocean.


Scattered low and medium clouds with embedded isolated moderate to intense convection over the west-central Arabian sea. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Arabian sea around May 14 morning. It is likely to move north-northwestwards across Southeast Arabian Sea and intensify into a depression around May 15. It may intensify into a cyclonic storm over the east-central Arabian Sea around May 16 and continue to move northwestwards.
