The fishing harbour project as part of the Barka Marina is expected to be a major tourism and economic project in the country.
Engineer Saeed bin Rashid al-Muqbali, Director of the Department of Fisheries in Barka, said that a building designated for fishermen - landing, selling, and cutting- is ready for soft opening in the coming days with all basic services such as water, electricity, and air conditioning fully provided and successfully tested by the investor.
He added that the tools and equipment necessary for the work of fish sellers and cutters were provided by the ministry and with initial support during the operation phase. The special sections for sale and cutting are provided as per the regulations for fish markets. 72 stalls are allocated for vendors and 21 stalls for fish cutting.
