The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it decided to extend the period for administration of the second dose of the Oxford/ AstraZeneca vaccine to four months after the first shot.

MOH said that this time gap is due to the lack of supply and the delay on the part of manufacturers in exporting the vaccine.

MOH confirmed that the extension of the period between the two doses falls within the period authorized by the manufacturer to ensure the effectiveness of vaccination, as well as within the approved protocols for the Covid-19 vaccine.

MOH also said that for the second dose of Oxford/ AstraZeneca each person will be informed by a text message specifying the date for vaccination second dose.
