

Muscat, May 2 - The Oman national beach soccer team will begin its preparation for the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 after the Eid al Fitr break.
The beach soccer technical staff has proposed a comprehensive preparatory plan for the World Beach Soccer to the national team directorate at the Oman Football Association for final approval.
The warm-up plan featured many overseas camps as the national sporting activities remain banned by the government due to the rapid raise in positive cases of the Covid-19. It is expected that one of the camps will be in Dubai due to the better travel procedures during Covid-19 pandemic as many other countries implemented tough restrictions for travelling.
The other external camps will be in Morocco in June and Oman will also play Morocco team. The remaining duration for kick off of the World Cup Russia 2021 is three months only as the event will be held from August 19 to 29.
The Asian football body, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on April 21 that AFC Beach Soccer Committee has recommended that Asian representatives in Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 will be from utilising the point system, which ranks the performances of the continent’s top eight teams in the last three editions of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup.
Based on the ranking of the point system, Japan, Oman and United Arab Emirates will represent the AFC in the World Cup in Russia.
The Oman team had stopped training since four months ago as the last appearance of the team was in December. It was planned the team will begin the training for the AFC Beach Soccer Championship 2021 finals in Thailand and GCC beach soccer cup in Bahrain in February through an external camp in Iran but both events were cancelled due to the pandemic.
The OFA and Oman football lovers will be looking for different show in the fourth participation of the team at the high-profile event in Russia. Despite exiting at the group stage, the Sultanate’s beach soccer team had impressed in the last edition of Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay in December 2019. Oman had registered a crucial win against Nigeria. The national team had suffered two losses against Portugal and Brazil.
Oman probables: Khalid al Oraimi, Mishal al Oraimi, Munther al Oraimi, Yahya al Oraimi, Jalal al Sinani, Nouh al Zadjali, Abdullah al Souti, Abdulaziz al Raqadi, Salim al Oraimi, Abdullah al Balushi, Amjad al Hamdani, Shareef al Balushi, Younis al Oaisi, Sami al Balushi and Eid al Farsi.
