It is the last game of the first round and both these teams would be looking to forget it as a bad dream. Prior to that, both the teams would fancy 2 points, before they go into the second round.
Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals stand at 4 points from 6 games. RR won their two games against KKR and the mighty Delhi Capitals. On the other hand, David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad have just won a single game from 6 games. The win came against Punjab Kings. They did take the DC game to super over, but failed to convert it to a win.
The show is not all over for both teams and qualification still stands as a distant hope, but for that to be a realistic
dream, this game carries a lot of weight.
SRH CHANGE CAPTAIN
SRH is a brilliant team, but the resources haven’t been used well and after intense pressure the management has changed Warner as captain and put the responsibility on Kane Williamson.
So it will be some pressure off for the Australian opener who can now focus on his batting with the experienced Williamson taking the mantle.
DIFFICULT PHASE FOR RR
When you have 2 win from 6 games, it’s almost impossible to keep the team environment positive. This is evident with a lot of players leaving and now RR have just four foreign players. Although, RR are waiting for some of their player loans to get approved, and get some fresh legs and energy.
Sanju Samson, hasn’t shown a lot of maturity and his press communications is something that he really needs to work on. Cricket these days is not just a game of ball and bat, Communication plays a massive role.
Man management is another important factor, where Sanju Samson has been way below par. One wouldn’t be wrong in saying that Shivam Dube’s excessive use has let the team down. David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag and Chris Morris have exceptional striking capacity, but on most occasions, they have been held on for too long. There are rumours of Trevor Penny to be sacked pretty shortly and Amol Muzumdar to take over. This match will decide a lot of futures.
KEEN TUSSLE FOR
PUNJAD AND DC
DC have not got a lot wrong this year with keeping place in the top part of the points table.
Rishabh Pant’s decision-making has been the talk of the town for quite a while and he just keeps on giving more opportunities with consistent poor decisions.
The last game was just perfect for DC. Lalit Yadav made a good impact and was followed by some brilliant striking from Prithvi Shaw.
Eventhough, this game is not going to be that easy.
Punjab Kings just won a crucial encounter against RCB and are coming full of confidence. It looks like, finally they have found the correct combination and they are soon going to be the team to beat.
The ‘Gayle Storm’ was launched early in the last game and we can expect the same in this match too.
Nicholas Pooran is expected to finally go to the bench and make way for someone else. If Dawid Malan can open with KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal, Jalaj Saxena might come in for Prabhsimran Singh. Lastly, the fans were very critical on Arshdeep’s exclusion after his consistent good performances, so he might come in.
