Meet discusses impact of social marketing campaigns

Muscat,Dec 17 – The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources organised on Monday a forum on awareness, information and public relations under the auspices of Nasser bin Sulaiman al-Sibani, Vice-Chairman of the Public Authority for Radio and Television.
The two-day forum was aimed at exchanging experiences between participants and discussing challenges in the field. The forum began with a short film reviewing development of media and public awareness programmes and how these programmes played an important role in shaping the culture of modern man and building societal thoughts in all aspects of life.
In his speech, Dr Sulaiman bin Ali al-Majini, Director of Awareness and Public Relations Department at the General Directorate of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in Al-Buraimi Governorate, said “The ministry is keen on celebrating municipal and water events and introducing the community to these events and establish labour camps accompanied by awareness campaigns.”
The forum discussed topics such as regulatory frameworks in media and public relations, measuring the impact of social marketing campaigns, creative identity of digital content, media code and ethics of profession, and etiquette and art of dealing with public relations practitioners.
On Tuesday, it will look at activating the role of social responsibility in MoRMWR, effectiveness of operational plans and how to prepare them, Government Communication Center and information integrity between government institutions, importance of image and its impact on the forum, vision on the integration of awareness and media work in the regional municipalities and finally, electronic content management in municipal and water sectors.
