MUSCAT: The Directorate-General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in North Al Batinah represented by the Food Import Control Department at Sohar Port, destroyed about 1,321 cartons of food that weighed 7,915 kg. According to a statement from the authorities, the cartons contained food that had past the expiry dates and were unfit for human consumption. Meanwhile, the authorities in Al Buraimi carried out inspections at 102 food joints, reported 31 irregularities and closed four establishments. Around 29 kg of food items and some useable tools used in preparations were destroyed in the process.
