Employees can enroll for part-time study in colleges

MUSCAT: Public and private sector employees can now apply to enroll in par-time courses in technical colleges. Applications will be accepted until December 8. The ministry of manpower plan will allow the employees the chance to continue their studies and improve their knowledge, skill and capacities in to keep pace with the labour market requirements. National employees, who have general education diploma (GED) certificate or its equivalent, can apply for part-time study provided they have updated their information at the manpower register to ensure that they have met the condition of completing one year in the job. They should pass the tests and interview as required by the respective college. Applicants who have studied in a technical college or any higher education institution have to provide their certificates for the equivalence process. Applicants for the advanced diploma programme are required to have a TOFEL certificate with a minimum score of 500 points or 4,5 score in IELTS. The requirements for the bachelor’s programmes is a score of 550 in TOFEL or a score of 5,0 in IELTS because the technical colleges apply English language as a medium of instruction. — ONA
