One dead in migrant centre fire near Paris

Paris: One person was killed after a fire broke out at a migrant worker centre near Paris, a police spokesman said. Investigations are under way into the cause of the fire, which brokeout overnight at a six-storey building in the Parisian suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt. A fire department spokesman told BFM-TV broadcaster that six people had been saved from “certain death.” Fourteen people were injured in the fire, the police spokesman said. Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve expressed solidarity with the victims in a statement and pledged to shed light on the cause of the fire. — dpa
