By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 17: A low pressure formed in the Arabian Sea will not have any effect on the coastal areas of Oman, said a statement from Oman Meteorology. It is presently centred at about 1,110 km west of Aminidivi, 950 km east-southeast of Socotra, Yemen and 1,250 km east-southeast of Bereeda, Somalia. The statement added the depression will intensify in next 24 hours, mostly towards Horn of Africa. The system will continue to move in west direction and is most likely to head towards Oman or Somalia coast. However, depression has moved far away from the Indian coast, reports from Indian said. Areas coming under its influences are likely to experience medium to heavy rains, as per reports. The depression is seen as remnants of Cyclone Vardah which made a landfall close to the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu last week.
