Two arrested for setting three vehicles on fire

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 18: The criminal investigations team of ROP in North Batinah has arrested two people accused of setting fire to three vehicles in Shinas. An official statement said that the accused entered the victim’s house at night and put fire to three vehicles, which they confessed during investigation. The matter has been forwarded to the Public Prosecution to further formalities. It may be noted that the Article (270) of Omani Penal Code stipulates that setting fire and causing damages intentionally to private and public properties are liable to imprisonment ranging from seven to fifteen years. In another development, the coastguards rescued two citizens after their boat run out of fuel near Seeb.  The coastguards also managed to rescue three people after their boat crashes in Oman’s territorial waters near Shinas. The ROP has advised the boat owners to have enough fuel and check engine conditions before they venture out to sea.
