Winners of Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran contest feted

MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science (SQHCCS) of the Diwan of Royal Court honoured at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat on Monday the 18 winners of the 26th version of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition during a ceremony held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Hinai, the State Advisor. Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, SQHCCS Secretary-General delivered a speech during which he praised the role played by the SQHCCS, administrators and technicians in the competition. He added that the number of contestants in this edition rose from the previous versions, reaching 2,012 male and female contestants, compared to 1,537 competitors in 2015. The ceremony honoured the winners of the first three positions of the six levels of the competition, as well as the parents of the winners of the first three positions in the sixth level, the members of the committees of the preliminary and final rounds of the competition, the administrators of the preliminary and final rounds, as well as institutions, community centres and supervisors on the memorization of the contestants, and collaborating institutions and entities. The Sultan Qaboos Competition for Holy Quran includes 6 levels. The first level is in memorizing the whole of the Holy Quran with recitation; second level memorising 24 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran with recitation; third level memorizing 18 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran with recitation; fourth level memorizing 12 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran with recitation, the fifth level memorising 6 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran with recitation and the last (sixth) level memorising 2 parts. — ONA
