3 held for liquor smuggling bid

MUSCAT: A marine patrol of the Coast Guard Police foiled an attempt to smuggle alcoholic beverages on a boat and arrested three Asian nationals, an official with Royal Oman Police (ROP) has said. The patrol was on routine security when the personnel spotted a boat inside Oman’s territorial waters south-east of the Niyabat of Lima. The boat made an attempt to escape but was seized by the coast guard patrol. The police arrested three Asian men who were on board and seized 2,232 cans of beer and 24 bottles of liquor.
