Celebrating Oman: The Great Journey’ consist of eight vivid musical tableaux, representing different aspects of life in Oman.

[gallery columns='4' link='file' ids='338195,338194,338193,338191'] The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) will present its own production entitled “Celebrating Oman: The Great Journey” on 5, 6 and 7 January 2017 at 7 pm. Combining great music with dazzling light and sound shows, ‘Celebrating Oman’ is a free event that will be presented on ROHM’s Maidan outdoor space. This ground-breaking production significantly coincides with the exceptional fifth season and anniversary of ROHM and reaffirms the reputation that ROHM has managed to build over the years as an artistic and cultural beacon and a bridge for cross-cultural dialogue. The show will be shedding light on part of Oman history and blessed renaissance under the prudent leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. This show has been developed in cooperation with Namaste group and conceived by the renowned Italian creator of exciting events, Paolo Dalla Sega, to be a valuable addition to ROHM’s repertoire. His Highness Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd al Said maintained that the ROHM Board of Directors has, since the ROHM’s first season, been keen on presenting independent productions and this show will mark a milestone in the area of technical and innovative co-operation with specialized companies from around the world. A number of talented poets, authors and artists as well as young Omanis will actively participate in the show to reflect creativity in various fields of arts. The show features an original libretto by Omani writer, Dr Saleh al Fahdi, with unforgettable storytelling by Issam al Zadjali and Rasha al Balushi. Aiman al Nasser will be performing a solo song. In addition, international choreographers, singers and dancers from all over the world including Italy, France, Singapore, UK, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Hungary and Switzerland will take part in the show. More than a hundred performers, forty Omani children, more than thirty Omani musicians, three camels from the Royal Camel Corps, traditional Omani folk companies and members from the ‘The Society for Amateur Oud Players’, which was created by Royal order of His Majesty in 2005 will be contributing to the show. ‘Celebrating Oman: The Great Journey’ consisting of eight vivid musical tableaux, representing different aspects of life in Oman, will take the audience on an incredible expedition through Oman’s rich history, nature, seafarers’ traditions and cultural heritage. The eight tableaux are dedicated to “Oman History and Geography”; “Frankincense Back to Nature”; “Maritime History”, “Silk Route”, “Sword Dance”, “Renaissance”, “Oman: Oasis of Peace” and the final tableau represents the ROHM as a “Cultural House of the World”. Light and sound will also play a main role in this performance, with more than a hundred performers on stage, from all over the world.
