By Amal Al Riyami — NIZWA: Jan 10 - DHAD Institute for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages at the University of Nizwa received a new batch of students from Italy. The 12 students will undergo an intensive study programme at the institute. On the first day, they went around the university facilities such as teaching halls, service centres, library and other facilities. They learned some general information, and the faculty members guided them about some rules they need to follow during their studies. Professor Noha al Abri offered some tips that will benefit them in their integration into the Omani society during trips and events planned for them by the institute. The students also had an online placement test. They will be divided into different groups based on the test results. Professor Kawthar al Harthi, said: “The arrival of the delegation from different countries contributes significantly to the spread of Omani culture to the world and make them learn about the varied social life in the Sultanate. Through linguistic and cultural trips, students learn about the hospitality in Omani homes.” “We, as professors, have focused on improving their language and conversations skills,” she added. The institute has planned visits to important archaeological and historical sites in the Sultanate, especially Al Dakhiliyah, as well as cultural seminars and courses in Arabic handwriting.
