No changes allowed to buildings without permission

By Vinod Nair — MUSCAT: Jan. 16 - Muscat Municipality has said that there are some landlords or contractors who make major additions or minor changes to buildings or land without obtaining prior permission from the authorities. Those found violation the rules will be subject to fines of up to RO 5,000, in addition to bearing the costs to remove the obstructing materials, Municipality said. It said exterior paint of the building could be done only with approved colours. It is also the responsibility of the landlords and contractors to clear the debris and construction materials so that they do not cause hazards or obstructions.
