Fourth Reporter Forum concludes in Duqm

DUQM: The 4th Reporter Forum, organised by the Omani Journalists Association (OJA), in cooperation with the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), concluded on Wednesday. As more as 70 journalists from the local media means took part in the three-day forum. The final programme for the activities of the forum included an open meeting with reporters and journalists participating in the forum, in the presence of Ali bin Khalfan al Jabri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Hatim bin Hamad al Ta’ee, State Council’s Member, Editor-in-Chief of Al Roya newspaper, Saif bin Saud al Mahrouqi, Editor-in-Chief of Oman newspaper, and Awadh bin Said Baquwair, Chairman of OJA. The forum addressed the challenges facing the journalistic work and ways to develop and expand the role of the media in supporting development programmes and plans in the Sultanate. The Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information expressed his happiness with the government’s efforts in implementing its programmes to diversify sources of income through under-implementation projects in the economic zone in the Wilayat of Al Duqm. Journalists put forward several challenges facing journalism in the Sultanate. They emphasised the importance of motivating the journalists and reporters in all governorates of the Sultanate, paying attention to reporters in terms of social aspects and providing training programmes, privileges and facilities that keep pace with the journalistic work. — ONA
