SME Development Fund launches first campus company

MUSCAT: The SME Development Fund is driving its initiative of Entrepreneurial Campus across 20 colleges in the Sultanate of Oman to spread and support entrepreneurial culture. Today the first campus company was launched under the auspices of Dr Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. “Majan Handicrafts” is a campus company managed by five students from Waljat College for Applied Sciences. Majan Handicrafts has been initiated, funded and supported by SME Development Fund. Campus companies are aimed at providing experiential learning for the students to set up their own businesses and acquire skills and expertise needed in a low risk environment. — ONA
