SQU receives IAEA delegation

MUSCAT: A delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) including Dr Najat Mukkhatar, Director of Asia and Pacific at IAEA Technological Cooperation Department, Dr Hajj Sulaiman Shariff, Director of Peaceful Nuclear Technologies Cooperation Department at the Foreign Ministry on Monday visited Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) to discuss cooperation fields between IAEA and SQU. The participants at the visit discussed and shared views about the existing researches between IAEA and the Sultanate in areas, such as quality plan in radiology and nuclear medicine. The visit also discussed the future plans about participation of IAEA and SAU Hospital in future researches, as well as the establishment of an oncology centre at SQU Hospital which includes the cyclotron centre. They also discussed PET and optimum methods of quality control. They also discussed establishing training programmes among the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, SQU Hospital and IAEA in physics medicine and nuclear medicine. — ONA
